At Lawdale Junior School, we meet the requirements of the National Curriculum 2014 document. To meet this requirement, we use the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) to deliver the content. The IPC is topic based, making the teaching and learning more exciting for the children. Year 3 and 4 follow the same two-year cycle of topics and year 5 and 6 follow a different cycle of topics over two years.
We use the Jigsaw Scheme of Work to teach PSHE. This scheme links to the Prevent strategy so we can meet the curriculum requirements of Prevent. Find out more about Jigsaw by clicking here. In addition, we teach elements of the Prevent strategy through other subjects such as debating controversial subjects as part of English teaching, learning about conflict resolution when studying historical topics such as WWII and understanding of different cultures and religions in RE and through assemblies. We also hold events such as Diversity Evening to recognise and value the wide of cultures and beliefs in our school community.
